Mediating between friends
One of the praised qualities of mediation, as a method of alternative dispute resolution, is neutrality. One of the things a mediator has to train themselves to be is neutral, throughout the mediation process.
Neutrality provides to the process a third party with no pre-conceived notions of who probably did what and why. A non-judging third mind that listens, empthasizes and actively guides the parties towards settlement solely based on what they parties chose to share about the matter.
